A Huge Victory In San Jose?

As you may know, I am deeply involved with the fight in the “Yes on D” campaign in San Jose to win workers a fairer wage. We worked really hard, gathered 36,000 signatures and qualified Measure D for the ballot. Now we have a chance in the fall election to raise the city’s minimum from $8 to $10 an hour.

A victory here will mean $4000 extra each year for over 40,000 working families in our nation’s 10th largest city. Imagine what a difference this can make. Imagine the ripple effect throughout all of California… and then, perhaps the nation. Wow! Just like that we could do it. And you can help.

Our early polling put us at 70% support. But now, the Chamber of Commerce has promised to spend $1.5 million to try to crush our effort.

We are doing a great job of using people power to wage our fight, but at the end of the day, we need money to run an effective campaign.

You’ve worked with me in the past and I’m asking you to help me now. I’m putting in $1000 this week. Won’t you join me? [Click here to donate!]

If you’re in the area, we are having a fundraising event this Friday October 12 from 4:30PM to 6:30PM at Azucar Latin Bistro. The address is 71 E. San Fernando Street San Jose, CA 95113. I’ll be there along with San Jose Councilmember Ash Kalra and the head of the S. Bay Labor Council Cindy Chavez. We’ll be joined by friends and supporters like you. Please drop by for a drink, to drop off a check and to support an amazing campaign.

I hope to see you there but know many of my friends just can’t make it. But, you can just make a donation here!

Thank you for making a difference!

Peace and Love,
